ACTION ON DISPUTES
New Procedure Suggested I Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. Aug. 16. The possibility of establishing a disputes committee procedure in industry was mentioned by the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) in Parliament today If the procedure could be adopted throughout New Zealand, the Government might be required to build up a panel of dfficers similar to the conciliation commissioners of today. “It may cost the Government money, though if it is writter into awards the parties to them could contribute to .he cost." he said Mr Shand was speaking in discussion on the Labour Department estimates after Opposition speakers had asked why the amount allowed for disputes committees had increased from £1065 last year to £4020 The cost of the State Services Appeal Committee was now being charged against the Labour Department vote This was in line with a recommendation of the Royal Commission on State Services. said Mr Shand
