Sir.—Riccarton’s Mayor deserves commendation for his broadminded attitude regarding support for the town haU. It was a courageous step for him to take, and he is to ba congratulated on gaining the backing of the majority of his councillors. This worthy lead may inspire other local bodies to follow suit—Yours, etc., HEATHCOTE RATEPAYER August 9, 1963.
