St. Andrew's Reunion Ball With Pipers
The Cross of St. Andrew was the background for heather and early summer flowers in the sapphire room of the Winter Garden last evening when the St. Andrew’s College Old Boys’ Association held its annual reunion ball. Gay balloons decorated the ballroom, and a spectacular pedestal bowl of wattle stood at the entrance to the foyer.
Senior members of the college’s pipe band played waltzes during the evening. Guests were welcomed by the president of the association, Mr R. D. Minson, and Mrs Minson.
Invited guests included Mr I. T. Galloway, Rector of St. Andrew’s College, and Mrs Galloway; Mr E. W. S. Hignett. president of the ParentTeachers’ Association, and Mrs Hignett, and representatives of kindred associations. About 600 attended the ball.
Mrs Galloway wore a gown of hyacinth blue satin patterned with gold embroidered sprays. It had a fitting bodice and a full skirt. A gown of black brocade threaded with red was chosen by Mrs Minson. With a V neckline, the bodice was pleated on each shoulder, and pleats were also used to
give a full back to the slimfronted skirt.
Mrs Hignett wore a gown of duchess satin in a coffee shade, with a front panel patterned in black and lurex thread. It was styled with a fitting bodice, and soft back pleats giving fullness to the skirt.
