Fencing Party In Islands (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 9. Flies and mosquitoes hampered the efforts of 14 young New Zeails.ndfors as they constructed the last haW of a three-mile fence through dense tropical jungle on the island of Etsgriritu Santo, in the New Hebrides. Seven of the party. all volunteers. arrived back in Auckland this afternoon They are the leader. Mr Robert Neas. aged 29. of Invercargill. and Messrs AJVtaw Murray, aged 21. of Hamilton. Garth NeviU. aged 20 of General Otago. John Stewart, aged 18. of Milton. Lester Elliott, aged 18. also of Milton. Dougtes Jack, aged 20 of BaJdtrha. and Roy Burnett, aged 18. of Invercargill.
Six members of the original party have remained in the islands to tour local mastsnon stations They will return to Auckland next week. Mr Neville Knox, of Ashburton will reman for another 12 months.
All the New Zealanders are members of Presbvterian Bible cfesses. They paid for •he trip themselves The fence forms the base of a trihngular boundary of ’■and surrounding a Presbvterinn train’ng college named th* Tangos Training Institute. They had also constructed a node and a quarter of subdivision fences.
