VERY REV. S.C. FRANCIS
Invercargill Post Accepted
The Very Rev. S C. Francis, minister of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church since 1943. will leave in September to become director of the Southland Presby t e r i a n Social Service Association He will take up this appointment in Invercargill in the second week of October. He will be responsible for the management of homes run by the association, office admin; istration, and social welfare work. Mr Francis came to New Zealand in 1920, and graduated B.A. from Canterbury
University College. He then studied at Knox College. Dunedin, and was ordained at Clevedon in 1929
Before he took up his position at St Paul's in 1943, he was minister at East Taieri and at St. Paul’s, Napier. He has taken a leading part in the committees of the Presbyterian General Assembly and in the ecumenical movement. One of his chief interests has been social servic , and he has been convener of the Assembly's social service committee.
Mr Francis has been Moderator of the presbyteries of South Auckland. Hawke's Bay, Dunedin, and Christchurch. and in 1961 and 1962 was Moderator of the General Assembly.
