ROCK CAR CONTRACT
Co-operation By Chch. Firms (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 2. The Utah-Williamson-Bur-nett group has awarded C W F. Hamilton and Company. Ltd., Christchurch, the contract for the supply of rock cars for its Manapouri tunnel contract. These are large steel rail trucks for transporting excavated rock from the tunnel face to the portal. A spokesman for C. W F Hamilton, Ltd., said tonight that the successful tender was based upon co-operation with Andersons, Ltd., also of Christchurch, in a combination of available workshop capacity which would ensure production within the strict delivery requirements laid down by the main contractors.
This is the first and will probably be the largest steel fabrication order to be placed with local suppliers in connexion with the project
