The touring New Zealand Universities' men's hockey team opened its Australian tour in impressive fashion against a strong Sydney University side In a practice game today.
The game was played in blazing sunshine on a hard ground, in which the New Zealand short passing attack functioned impressively The first half was scoreless, but after the interval Byers. Bailey, and Read scored for New Zealand and Curton for Sjdney. The 3-1 victory was well merited, and great things are to be expected from this fit New Zealand side.
