FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone north-east of Auckland is moving away as a complex trough of low pressure advances on to New Zealand from the Tasman Sea. Forecast.— Canterbury.—North-easterly winds, fresh at times in exposed places, otherwise mainly moderate; cloudy with rain at times in the alps and some scattered light falls possible in other places; temperatures generally cool. Outlook: Scattered rain. Marlborough and Nelson.—North or north-west winds becoming fresh in many places and strong about Cook Strait; cloudy, with scattered rain, mainly light at first; moderate temperatures. Outlook: Changeable. Buller and Westland.—North.easterlies, freshening at times: dull, with periods of rain; moderate temperatures. Outlook- Rain at times, but probably clearing later in Westland.
