Princess Alexandra Expecting First Baby

LONDON, July 29. Twenty-six-year-old Princess Alexandra is expecting her first baby some time in the new’ year.

The Princess, who married a Scottish commoner, Mr Angus Ogilvy, in London’s wedding of the year in April, is reported well.

An announcement on the birth was made from the couple’s home, Thatched House lodge, in Richmond Park, Surrey, yesterday. Sunday afternoon strollers in Richmond Park saw the Princess with her husband •nd mother. Princess Marina of Kent, in the grounds of her new home yesterday. They went indoors as the news about the baby was picked up on transistor radios •nd a crowd began to gather. Police asked the sightseers to keep moving, the “DailyExpress" reported. Later a police van arrived with two dog handlers. S accession Princess Alexandra, who will be 27 on Christmas Day. is twelfth in line of succession to the British Throne. Although the baby will be

thirteenth in line of succession, if Mr Ogilvy remains a ] commoner, the child will not I have a title and will be 1 known only as Master or Miss Ogilvy. Mr Ogilvy, aged 34, is the . second son of the Earl and ( Countess of Airlie. She is being attended by Mr lan Jackson, obstetrics surgeon to the Middlesex Hospital, London. The Queen’s doctors. Lord Evans, physician, and Sir John Peel, surgeon -gynaecologist, have been consulted. There was no further intonnation about the probable date of the birth. No arrangements have yet been made as to where the birth will take place. A Royal Household spokesman said: “She may have the baby at her own home or she may decide to move to Kensington Palace.” This is the home of Princess Marina. Royal Babies Britain’s youngest Royal baby is the Earl of St. Andrews, son of the Duke and Duchess of Kent, born on June 26 last year. The Duke is Princess Alexandra’s brother. Viscount Linley, son of Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon, is 20 months old, bom on November 3. 1961, and the Queen’s second son, Prince Andrew, was bom on February 19, 1960.
