Cacti Are A Must For The Indoor Gardener
Few homes must be without some collection, however humble, of cacti or succulents. Their hardiness and fantastic shapes, year-round flowering and evergreen habits make them perfect for decoration on windowsills indoors.
The handsome collection shown above, which began with a few small plants in pots and saucers, has given Ms owner countless hours of enjoyment during its growth to a fully-labelled glasshouse array. There are few rules to worry the person beginning a cacti and succulent garden. Good drainage, good light, and loose, light soil. The range of plants is considerable, and they bear up well to division, the smallest of pieces propogating well in sand.
And those handsome heads of white hair on some cacti? Shampoo them by all means, so long as you keep detergents out of the soil.
