ATTACK ON S. AFRICA
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copi/right) ALGIERS, July 29. President Nyerere, of Tanganyika, told a news conference in Algiers that if South Africans “continue to consider non-whites as human pigs, then we have to fight. “We are really waging the final blow against Fascism,” he said. President Nyerere. who was on the last day of a State visit to Algeria, and the Algerian Prime Minister, Mr Ben Bella, issued a communique calling for immediate action to secure effective sanctions against South Africa.
They also agreed on the need to use every means at their disposal to support whatever actions were recommended if Portugal failed to yield to world judgment on the issue of self-determination for its African territories. The two Heads of State also called on Britain to "bring about a rapid and democratic settlement in the Rhodesias in conformity with the wishes of the African populations”
The East African Trades Union Conference. which ended yesterday, decided to call upon the Governments of Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika to bring into force a “total boycott” on South African trade, according to a resolution published in Nairobi today. The oonference also called or. the East African Governments to “take immediate action against the South African Government, even if it means a shooting war.’’
