SCHOLARSHIP IN SINGING
“Sydney Sun” Aria Contest A scholarship of £1250 will be awarded to the winner of the “Sydney Sun” aria in addition to the first prize of £6OO. The firm giving the scholarship, John Fairfax, Ltd., will also give two prizes of £lOO each, three of £5O and two of £25. The total of £2250 makes it the largest aria award in Australia, and possibly in the world. Singers of world renown such as Joan Sutherland and Raymond Nilsson are former winners of the contest. Entries in the 459 events of the City of Sydney Eisteddfod should be made immediately.
