Badminton Avonside’s Fourth Loss After Winning Run

Avonside. which won its first five matehes. had its fourth consecutive loss when the eleventh round matches in the Canterbury Badminton Association's A grade inter-club competition were played. It lost to the bottom team. Railway. Christchurch beat Knox. 14-2. Selwyn had the bye. Railway was considerably strengthened by the inclusion of A. Duckmanton. a division one player who was playing in his first inter-club match this season. He beat Canterbury’s top man. P. Boatwood. In the top women's singles. Miss J. Davidson was too strong for Mrs M. Miller.

The leading team, Christchurch, had little difficulty to beat Knox. Crofts was the only Knox player who caused the Christchurch team any trouble, with an excellent win against D. Reid, a division one pls ’er. In Inter-club matches he has caused three upsets oy beating Boatwood twice, and Reid. Competition points are:—
