GLUE FOR TILES
Tradesmen Stay On Job (Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 24 The investigation into adhesives to be used for tiles n the Christchurch-Lytielt./ri road tunnel is proceeding and the tradesmen employed in the operation have agreed to stay on t<e job until the investigation Is completed The secretary of the Canterbury Carpenters’, Plasterers and Bricklayers Un ion (Mr F. L. Langley) sad tonight he nad advised his office in Christoh urch this morning at the position. "They are staying on the job but of course they are no- using the adhesive complained of,” Mr Langley sa d "No tiling is being done todlay —but there are other things they can do.” The Ministry at Works advised tonight that an engineer, Mr B. Spooner, will be at the tunnel tomorrow. A chemist employed by th< firm supplying the adhesive has been making investigations in the tunnel today. Tilers and tilers’ labourers working at the turmel decided last week not to use the adhesive after 5 pm. tonight.
