Radiation Dangers
Sir, —In reply to Mr A. C. Intyre's leter of Monday, July 22, I would like to make it clear that I did not, and do not. question the accuracy of the facts reported by the Dominion X-ray and Radium Laboratory. However, some of Mr G. E. Roth’s interpretations of these facts as re-
ported recently in various newspaper articles do tend to minimise the radiation dangers from bomb fall-out On these debatable points I agree with Dr. Linus Pauling, who says in his book, “No More War,” page 82, that “there is no safe amount of radiation 'or of radioactive material. Even small amounts do harm.” My difference of opinion with Mr Both is based on newspaper reports, and if these have failed to express Mr Roth's views accurately I am quite prepared to admit that I have been misled, along with the public.—Yours, etc., R. S. BIGELOW. July 22, 1963.
