Golf CHARLES MISSES TWO TOURNEYS
Returning To N.Z. September 14
R. J. Charles, 4he British Open golf champion, will return to New Zealand on September 14, he told his mother, Mrs A. I. Charles, of Christchurch, when he telephoned from Chicago yesterday. He will miss the sponsored tournament at Balmacewan and Russley, but will be able to compete at Hastings on September 16 and 17.
Charles will play in the Western Open tournament this week before he and his wife fly to Nassau, in the Bahamas, for a fortnight's rest. Before they fly to New Zealand. Charles will also compete in a major tournament for television, and in the 50,000-dollars World Series tournament.
