CONVICTED OF FRAUD
Man Posed As Tongan (N Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. July 23 A Hamilton woman said in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today that Jordon William Cross, aged 24, a farmhand, obtained a car from her by saying he was the son of the Chief Administrator of Tonga and that his parents had been killed in an air crash Cross pleaded not guilty to obtaining the car, valued at £630, by falsely representing that he was a prince of royal blood from Tonga. He also denied a charge of unlawfully converting the car. Mr L G. H Sinclair, S.M., amended the false representation charge to read “that he was from Tonga and that his parents had been killed tn an air crash," as there was not evidence to show that he had posed as a prince. He convicted Cross on both charges and remanded him till July 80 for a psychiatric report and sentence The Magistrate suppressed the names of two civilian wi'nesses as they were “victims of a hoax ”
