UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE
Changed Time Advocated (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 23 The Otago University Senate is convinced the university entrance examination should be held during the second year of the sixth form work, preferably at the end of the second term. This view was endorsed today by the university council at its monthly meeting. This change should be implemented whether or not the proposals concerning the examination made in January by the universities entrance board were accepted, said a report from the senate. “The effect of this change would be to make the examination more specifically a university entrance qualification and not, as it is at present, for a large number of candidates, a school leaving certificate. "It would also enable schools to plan a sixth form course for university entrance extending over five terms,” the report said.
