Graeme Paul Mitchell, a blacksmith's apprentice, the youngest son of Mr and Mrs J Mitchell, of 21 Hawkhurst road. Lyttelton.
The youth suffered severe head injuries when the motor-cycle failed to take a bend near Cass Bay, struck a bank and then skidded into a power pole. A pillion rider, Mark Moeroa Tauwhare. aged 15. of Lyttelton. suffered bruises in the accident. Mr Mitchell was attended to by Dr N. D. Chambers i* Lyttelton, ait the scene of the accident Messrs J Baines and E Gealey. of the Lvttelton branch of the St John Ambulance Association took the unconscious youth tn hospital by ambulance. The accident happened at 12 30 p.m. on Monday.
