T.J. MORRIS IN FORM

It is a teet of any sportsman to require Kim to rise above disappointments

caused by injury and loss of form, particularly if he is a young player who has come into sudden prominence. \

The superb displays by the young University full-back, T. J. Morris, in the last four senior club matches have been all the more meritorious because they came after he was dropped to the senior reserve grade. Last season, Morris gained a place in the University senior team ahead of D. C. Leary after some great displays at full-back, and then was chosen for the Canterbury team as a centre. But this season he never approached the form that was expected from him. A leg injury and then an apparent loss of confidence caused him to give some disappointing performances, and as Leary was playing well, the University selectors, reluctantly no doubt, dropped him to senior reserve.

Called back into the senior team when Leary was injured, Morris seemed to regain all his former confidence and ability. Against Old Boys his incisive running played a major part in University’s win and in the last three games, he has given magnificent displays of fielding and kicking, to confirm the belief previously held that he was a player of considerable potential.
