Pensions
Sir,—Lake “Another Over 55," I would like to know why all widows, especially those trying hard to maintain and keep their own homes, cannot at least earn £4 10s a week; instead of Which, if you earn £4-odd a week, the allowance is reduced to just over £3 a week. Where can one get? With rate increases and upkeep it means the home will shortly have to be sold. I. for one, know of several widows doing domestic work who brag abouit earning, with the pension allowance, £ll and £l2 a week. Is it fair? —Yours, etc., TREAT US ALL ALIKE. July 22, 1963.
