FIRE QUIZ
Hospital Staff’s Interest
Teams from the Institutions of the North Canterbury Hospital Board are busy learning fire precautions in response to the annual quiz organised by the board's fire officer (Mr W. A. Clarke). The final of the quiz will be held on the evening of August 6, and elimination rounds are already taking place to reduce the 14 entries to a manageable number.
The chief trophy from this year on will be a rosebowl, presented by a fire-fighting equipment firm and to be known appropriately as the Vigilant Rosebowl. Other trophies and general prizes have been given by other firms in the fire-fighting business and by two department stores.
This is the second year the quiz has been run. and according to the assistant secretary of the board (Mr D. Horne) the interest aroused has been very great and must have • contributed greatly to the fire-awareness of the staff. As far as he knows, the board is the only organisation in Christchurch to run such an event.
