FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation.—A complex trough of low pressure is moving north-eastwards across New Zealand. Forecast:—
Canterbury.—Winds from a southerly quarter, fresh and possibly stron'g in, exposed areas. Cloudy, cold and showery, with some snow on the hills. Outlook: coastal showers, becoming partly cloudy inland.
Marlborough.—North-westerlies, strong about Cook Strait at first, but fresh southerlies prevailing this afternoon and becoming cold, with showery periods. Outlook: coastal showers.
Nelson.—Moderate variable winds, but southeasterlies probably freshening outside Tasman Bay later. Cloudy, with showery periods. Cool day temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. West Coast.—Moderate variable winds, southeasterlies predominating. Showery at first in the north, otherwise partly cloudy weather predominating, with moderate afternoon temperatures. Outlookmainly fine.
