ATTACKED IN STREET
Woman Thrown To Ground By Man (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, July 8. A woman, aged 22, was attacked and dragged to the ground in Hastings street, Napier, on Saturday night. Miss Anita Boyd, of Napier, was walking along Hastings street about 8.30 p.m. when she was attacked.
A car pulled alongside and stopped ( Miss Boyd told the Napier police later. The driver got out and walked across the footpath in front of her.
The man. taught to be in his early 20s. grabbed Miss Boyd a she walked past him. He pulled her backwards on to the ground and hit her three times across the face. She screamed and the man drove off in his dark-coloured late-model car.
Miss Boyd was shocked, but was only slightly injured.
Charges Dropped.—Charges against a hotel licensee and a barmaid, arising from Prince Charles's cherry brandy incident last month, have been dropped. Mr Colin Scott Mackenzie, the deputy police prosecutor at Stornow'ay, said yesterday that no Court proceedings against the two would now take place.— Stornoway (Scotland), July 8.
