Hurdles Entry At Trentham
"The Press” Special Service MATAMATA, July 8 Royal Counit rah a grand trial for the Winter tiurdles at Trentoam tots week when he scored impressively in toe Bleddsioe Hurdles at Avondale. Although toe field was small it included some of the best northern hack hurdlers including Top Liner, Ngaio anc Redex which tested the best a<t the northern meeting Rcitel Count slugged at fhe back early at usual. But when mishaps were impeding horses in toe middle stages W Short chased him to toe front. He took over toe lead with seven to run and never looked in danger of defeat thereafter. He ran toe furtong under two miles right out and is such a determined stayer that he could reach any heights. He leaves for Trentoam today. His Matamata trainer. N. Crawford, won a Wellington Steeplechase with Aligarh and has never returned empty handed from a foray south with horses such as 'French Echo. Sambula and Lavish Cxmteßs.
Royal Count is owned by has father. Mr J. Crawford, and Miss N. Ferguson. Mr Crawford senior, who has often been head ted on the southern trips, will take Royal Counit to Trentham.
