The £ rase from 2.7959 dollars I U.S.) on Friday to 2.7962 (T.T. buying) yesterday. This gain of 0.03 cents, though slight, was the largest daily change in the eter-ling-deliar rate since June 18, when the £ rose 03 cents to 2.7956 dollars. The unusual stability of the rate may be gauged from the fact that weekly variations of 0.07 cents to 0.15 cents were not uncommon earlier this year.
