The sum of £llO6 13s 2d was raised on Friday by the Canterbury eammercial travellers’ appeal for blind servicemen and the Mayor’s Coal and Blanket Fund. This amount is slightly less than last year although there were more collectors.
“The public just did not give as well as previously,” the secretary of the Canterbury Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association (Mt E. A. Boland) said. About 450 collectors were on duty for an hour. A truckload of men travelled about the suburbs throughout the day and raised £l4l.
