STALKER SHOT

Back-Country Accident (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL June 30. 34-year-old married man lay seriously ill in Kew Hospital tonight with extensive chest and abdominal injuries received in a shooting accident at the head of the Waiau river on Saturday. He is Maxwell George Spooner, of Te Anau. Mr Spooner was on a deerstalking trip with a friend when the accident occurred at 4.20 p.m. His companion carried him out to Te Anau where he was taken by car to Lumsden and then by ambulance to Invercargill He was admitted to hospital and was rushed to the operating theatre.
