CHEQUES FOR R.S.A. FUNDS
Women’s Section Contributions
The women's section of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association was congratulated on its work by the secretary of the Christchurch R.SA. (Mr F. Barron) ait its annual meeting. Mr Barron had been presented with three cheques by the women’s section: £lB5 10s flor the hospital comforts fund, £232 for the R.S.A benevolent fund, and £25 flor the general fund. Little was heard of the fund-raising activities of members of the women's section. yet each year they made a valuable contribution towards the work of the R.S.A.. he said.
A donation of £lO 10s. made to Heritage by the section, was accepted by Mrs E. Myers, who sand that there were still many young people needling help from Heritage. The women’s section had had a “very successful year.” said its president, Mrs H. E Packer. The sum of £320 4s 6d had been raised at a stall in Cathedral square; £5 Ils 6d by a white elephant stall; £37 10s 5d by jumble sales; and catering done by the committee for the Tin Hart Club had brought in £4B. she said. Guest speaker art the meeting was Mrs M. P. Clark, who described a safari trip she had made through Mauritius. Zanzibar, Mombassa, and Kenya.
Officers elected were: patron, Miss A. L. Smith; president, Mrs H. E. Packer; vicepresidents, Mesdames F A Arrow. G. V. Beer, Miss S Britton; treasurer, Mrs H E. Batchelor; secretary. Mrs M. A. Uoyd; committee, Mesdatnes R. A. Ambridge, V Annand. J. Brown, W Cant. M. P. Clarke. M. Everitt, D Hilton. E. M. Jones. B. Lauchland, A. J. Smith, F. M. Wilkinson.
