PARKING FEES
Board's Action Condemned
(N Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 13
The Auckland Harbour Board had no right to fix car parking charges for workers employed by another authority, the acting-presi-dent of the Federation of Labour (Mr T. E. Skinner) said today Mr Skinner said it was the sole responsibility of the port employers to provide parking. The board should have leased or rented the land to the employers who. in turn would grant parking for the workers
The board granted free parking to its own employees and the same right should be given to all wharf workers
A packed monthly stopwork meeting of the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Union today reaffirmed the stand taken by the combined waterfront organisation and also endorsed the Federation of Labour’s handling of the dispute.
