NAME FOR NEW CITY
Many Against “Churchill” (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 13. The name of Churchill is unlikely to be used for the new city to be formed in South Auckland. That was the only name suggested when the Local Government Commission hearing on reorganisation of the area was held recently. Many people have since given their views on the matter and most of them have been against the name Churchill. The mayors of four boroughs today agreed that Manukau would be a more suitable name.
