Trentham Entry If No Sale Of Desert Chief
Desert Chief and McCool may both carry the colours of their Riccarton ownertrainer, Mr J, F. Tutton, at Trentham next month.
Desert Chief, which Mr Tutton bought for 2800gns at the dispersal sale of the late Mr G. J. Barton's racing stock at Wingatui last Saturday, is at present under offer to an American owner.
Last evening, Mr Tutton still had no reply to a cablegram he sent to the United States last week-end. “I am expecting a reply any time now,” said Mr Tutton yesterday. “It’s a bit awkward having two horses racing in the same class at once, but if
word does not come within the next few days both Desert Chief and McCool will be en-, tered for major races at Trentham." Nominations for the Wel-i lington Racing Club’s winter meeting close next Tuesday.
Desert Chief, which was brought north on Sunday, is being kept in light exercise. He was nominated on Monday for the Maronan Handicap, principal race at the Ashburton County Racing Club’s winter meeting next Saturday week.
