“Craig.” a freehold farm of 2092 acres at Te Pirita. was sold for £52,300 to an undisclosed buyer at public auction yesterday. The property was offered on account of the estate of F. J. Andrew. The auctioneer was Mr R. Holland. The initial bid was £lB an acre. There were five bids of £l. three of 10s. and two of ss.
Improvements on the property include two homesteads, a married couple's bungalow, shearers’ quarters, woolshed, two implement sheds, seed and manure shed, two haybarns, and sheep and cattle yards. The property is subdivided into 32 main paddocks. Mr A. M. Carnahan’s “Cheviot Downs,” a farm of 326 acres 1 rood 19 perches at Cheviot, was passed in at £18.276. The tenure is lease in perpetuity and the annual rental is £lO5 The auctioneer was Mr L. B. Allan The opening bid was £5O an acre There were six bids of £l.
Improvements on the property include a three-bed-room homestead, single man's hut. shearers’ hut. hayshed, woolshed, cow bail, implement sheds, and two hay barns.
The property is subdivided into 17 paddocks. ' The rites are approximately £B3 a year.
Offered on account of Miss M M. Hulme, a house at 140 Champion street, St. Albans, was sold for £1650. The auctioneer was Mr R. Simes. The house has three bedrooms. sunroom, lounge, livingroom, kitchen, and bathroom. There is also a garage on the section of 36 perches Four shops at 145-151 High street have been sold privately by C EL Jones, Ltd., on behalf o’f the estate of Ewart Smith. The property was passed in at £12.000 when offered at auction recently.
