Country Rugby Coach
'THE coach of the CanterA bury Country Rugby team, Dr. J. D. Stewtart, makes a point to two of the players during the squad’s first team practice at the ground of the Belfast club last week. Canterbury representative, Dr. Stewart was invited by the Country selectors, Messrs C. R.
Watson and D. K. Coleman, to take over the coaching of the team for its annual match with Town on June 29. The Country players, drawn from the Canterbury sub-unions, whose territory extends from the Rakaia river to Kaikoura, responded enthusiastically to Dr. Stewart’s instructions throughout a sustained training period lasting an hour and a half. As a preliminary to the match with Town, Country
will play Canterbury Maoris at Rangiora today and Mid-Can terbury at Ashburton on June 22. Next month, the Country side will make a tbreematch tour with games against Marlborough at Blenheim on July 10, Golden Bay-Motueka on July 13, and Nelson at Nelson on July 17. The side will leave on July 8 and return on July 18.
