Methven Farmer Wins Qualifying Event
Mr J. S. Rawlinson, of Methven, won the Methven Young Farmers’ Club’s Atlantic Silver Plough qualifying event held on Mr I. Ayers’ property yesterday.
The runner-up was Mr M. Donaldsosi, of Tinwald. A former member of the Methven Y.F.C., Mr Rawlinson, aged about 34, has had several years’ experience in Silver Plough events. One of the three judges, who described the standard as good, said the ' crumbly ground which did not hold together, tended to detract from the standard of ploughing. The weather was fine for the events.
