Soccer CAPTAIN IS CAUTIONED

“Dissension,” Says Referee After a long session in committee last night, the management committee of the Canterbury Football Association announced, through its chairman <Mr J. Smith), that the name of D. H. Hicks (High School Old Boys) had been entered in the caution book. Mr Smith released a portion of a letter from a referee. Mr W. Higgins, which dealt with the cautioning of Hicks tn the first division game between High School Old Boys and Waterside at Burnside Park on Saturday. Mr Higgins said he cautioned Hicks for •'persistent dissension of my decisions and ungentlemanly conduct. ’• "Hicks persistently appealed when infringements, or supposed infringements. occurred and were not penalised: and even taking into account the fact that Hicks was captfln of High School Old Boys, his appeals were in the nature of duaension.” said the letter. Mr Higgins said that Hicks had not approached him to ask for the reasons, but had called out across the field. Dealing with the charge of ungenUemaniy conduct.
