Christchurch Wins Avon Cup
An inter-club contest between the Kaiapoi and Christchurch Model Aero Clubs was held on Sunday. In the free flight section Christchurch won the Avon Cup by to points to eight. The Kaiapoi club won the Piper perpetual trophy for , the con-trol-line section bv 13 points to five Weather conditions varied from calm and cool in the early morning, to windy and cold later in the day. The free flight events were held at Eyreton with three-man iearns from each club in three events. The control-line classes were flown at the Kaiapoi domain. Police Oppose Bail
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 11.
Police opposed bail when Murray Broughton, aged 18. driver, appeared in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today charged with breaking and entering Bordeaux Wines, at Henderson, on Sunday and with assaulting Thomas Edwards with intent to facilitate his flight upon the commission of burglary. Senior-Sergeant G. A. Dellow applied for a remand until June 18 and opposed bail Mr F. McCarthy, S.M., granted the police application.
