Civil Defence In Counties

The recent Hawke’s Bay flooding illuistraited clearly the need for every local authority to have a proper civil defence scheme, the Minister of Internal Affairs (Sir Leon Gotz) said in Rotorua today. He was pleased to see that several counties had prepared or were preparing schemes, Sir Leon Gotz told the Counties’ Association conference. “It is not tiM a disaster such a* the Napier flooding occurs that the need for civil defence is seen,” he said.
