The fastest, most luxurious power yacht in the world failed to tempt 40 prospective buyers at a London auction yesterday. Mercury, the 100-ton airconditioned boat that cost the Greek shipping millionaire. The auctioneer withdrew the yacht because Mr N larch os’s reserve had not been reached.
The Mercury is 102 ft long and capable of a speed of 50 knots.
Tourist Traffic.—New Zealand and Australia should co-operate to develop their tourist industries and attract more tourists, in the opinion of the general manager of the New Zealand Tourist Hotel Corporation.. Mr E. G Col beck, said today. Tourists from Europe would not travel 11,000 miles just to see either Australia or New Zealand alone, he said.—Sydney, June 11.
