Hailsliam U.K. Delegate
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, June 10
Lord Hailsham, Britain’s Science Minister, will represent the Prime Minister (Mr Macmillan) in new talks with the Soviet Union next month aimed at breaking the deadlock on a nuclear test ban treaty, it was announced in London today.
There was considerable satisfaction in official circles in London that Mr Khrushchev had agreed to the test ban talks, but there was no excessive optimism as to their results.
It was considered significant that Mr Khrushchev had agreed to the meeting in spite of the important ChineseSoviet talks on the two countries’ ideological dispute, which will open in Moscow on July 5.
