Major G B Elton yesterday took up his new appointment as deputy assistant director o* supplies and transport at the Southern Military District He succeeds Major R R. Harding, who has held the position for the last three years and a half Major Harding will leave Christchurch for a course at the command and staff school at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station Whenua pal. on Thursday Mr R Chapman-Taylor, a senior inspector of schools in Auckland, will leave in September to take up a twoyear appointment with the institute of Education at Ibadan University. Mr J R. Drummond. S.M., has been transferred to Auckland from Lower Hutt to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr W S. Spence, SM-IPA.) Mr W R. McCallum, of Christchurch announced at the annual meeting of the New Zeeland Beef Shorthorn Cattle Breeders' Association in Invercargill that he was giving up the secretaryship of the association which he has held for 38 years He will be succeeded by his son, Mr Stuart McCallum.
