NEW RADIO STATION
3YD Now On The Air
Radio stations IYD. Auckland, and 2YD, Wellington, had large bands of followers and he was sure 3YD would have similar support, said the chairman of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation (Dr. F. J. Llewellyn) when he made a short speech over 3YD last evening. Transmissions from 3YD were begun at 9 a.m. yesterday. Dr. Llewellyn said that the station would offer its listeners varied and well-chosen programmes. It would complement the programmes broadcast by stations 3ZB and 3YA and give the same faithful service as these stations. The station would give listeners a wider field of choice, he said.
Dr. Llewellyn congratulated the staff of the corporation for their work in establishing the station, and he gave his good wishes to those who would man it.
