FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A weak trough of low pressure is moving slowly northwards across central areas of the North Island and an anti-cyclone is advancing across the south Tasman Sea towards the South Island. Forecast: — Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh south to southwest 'winds; overcast and cold, with periods of drizzle. Marlborough.—Moderate to fresh southerly winds; a period of rain in the morning, but cloudy later, with occasional light showers; temperatures cold. Nelson.—Light to moderate, variable winds, southerlies predominating; light showers in the morning, but becoming partly cloudy later; cool temperatures. Buller and Westland.—Light, variable winds; a few scattered showers in the morning, otherwise weather partly cloudy, with moderate day temperatures.
