DROWNED IN HARBOUR
Capsize Of Dinghy
(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 9. Twc men are believed to have been drowned when their 10-foot dinghy capsized in Manukau Harbour on Saturday afternoon. The men were fishing in the main channel during the afternoon and were reported missing this morning when they did not return to their hames. They are Maxwell Leahy, aged 37. single, an engineering company employee, of 10 Lewis street. Blockhouse . Bay; and John Halmer Slater, aged 56 a welder, married, of 1628 Great North road, Avondale. The men left Blockhouse Bay in the dinghy a,bout 2 p.m. on Saturday to fish and look for scallops. Mr C. Hopkins, who also lives at 10 Lewis street, said that the men were due back on Saturday night. About 11 am. today he saw the overturned boat in the channel. Mr Hopkins went out in a dinghy and later the boat was towed in by a launch. A search for the men was made without success.
