COOL STORE AT BLENHEIM

Construction Of New Building A new cool store is being built by the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board at the Spring Creek railway siding, near Blenheim. At present the board has" a store which can hold 18.000 cases of fruit at the siding, and the new store will be able to hold 60,000 cases.

The store will hold fruit for shipment in the rail-road ferry Aramoana, and also a large amount of fruit for export on overseas vessels berthing at Picton.

The store will have aluminium walls and an iron roof, and will comprise one chamber. It will be surrounded by concrete aprons for loading and unloading. When it becomes necessary there is room on the land near the new store for yet another store capable of holding up to 100.000 cases. The main contractor for the new store is W. Williamson, Ltd., of Christchurch. The engineering contractor is W. G. G. Cuddon. Ltd., of Blenheim.
