Big Shipments Just Avert Tetramel Sell-Out

Because of the unprecedented demand for Tetramel motor fuel, emergency supplies had been rushed from overseas to avert the possibility of local service station stocks becoming exhausted, the South Island branch manager of Mobil Oil New Zealand Limited, Mr L. F. Woodbury, said last night.

“When we introduced Mobil Tetramel to the New Zealand market 10 weeks ago we were fully aware of the spectacular success of the product overseas. We knew motorists everywhere had immediately noticed the superiority of this revolutionary fuel and that the demand had strained the storage and distribution facilities of our Mobil associates in other countries.

“So we naturally tried to anticipate a similar demand when we were preparing for Tetramel's New Zealand debut. In fact, we laid in extra stocks right up to the limit of our storage capacity.

Soaring Demand “But soon after the introduction of Tetramel it became obvious that the demand would rapidly overtake even these supplies. Motorists knew they were getting real benefits from our new product and week by week sales have continued to break records throughout the country. It was vital that we arrange for additional supplies to reach New Zealand as quickly as possible.

“Emergency stock was not easy to obtain. Tetratnel is a ‘tailor-made’ petrol which is available

only from a few refineries and, in line with our creed ‘The Name You Can Trust,’ we were not prepared to accept any substitute fuel, even as a temporary measure. “Until a few days, ago we thought it might soon become necessary for us to advise motorists that Tetramel would not be available at many South Island service stations, but the arrival of the speciallycharted tanker ‘Camilla’ with fresh stocks of Tetramel has saved the situation. After discharging the Christchurch quota—--1,500,000 gallons—over the week-end the ‘Camilla’ goes on to deliver like amounts at Wellington and Auckland.

“This tremendous public demand, beyond precedent in Our long history of petrol marketing, is surely proof of the superiority of our new product. We are pleased to assure motorists that ample supplies of Tetramel will be available in the future,” Mr Woodbury said.—P.B.A.
