(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 9 An American showman has made a flying visit to Auckland to give approval for a tour of the United States by a Maori concert party. Mr S Shapiro, of the William Morris Agency, the biggest concert booking organisation in the world, arrived at Auckland on Friday night. He had immediate talks with Tourist Department and airline representatives, saw four films on the Maoris and agreed to handle the tour
Mr Shapiro discussed details of the tour with the Auckland theatrical promotor. Mr Harry Miller, and left on Saturday to return to New York
Mr Miller said today the party of 35 Maori performers would appear in at least 40 major American cities beginning in November of next year.
The Maori bass, Inia te Wiata has been invited to join the party as a soloist.
