NO HANDICAP TO IRVINE
Aust Wing Has Deformity (N.2. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 7 K. Irvine, Australia’s fastest Rugby League player—who is on the wing in the first test against the Kiwis at Sydney tomorrow—has a deformed bone in his left ankle. A chiropodist, Mr J. Nolan, discovered this last night when all the Australian players had their feet checked. Irvine and B. Muir returned today tor further treatment. Muir has a bit of bunion trouble. "I didn't know about the bone until I was told about it last night.” Irvine said today. It doesn’t affect my running in any way—perhaps it helps. "It is a mystery how the bone became deformed—l was probably born with it” Irvine holds professional running titles for 75. 100, 130. and 220 yards, and in March, at Dubbo, he ran 100 yards m 9.3 sec.
The Australian coach. Mr C. Churchill, said he hoped Irvine would break a feu more records tomorrow with a series of tries.
