A trip to Melbourne tar racing in the spring and a campaign meanwhile at Riccarton at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Grand Nation®! meeting are being planned for Gauntlet. He wae a star ait the last Auckland summer meeting, where he, won the Christmas Handicap. a mile, and the-Sum-mer Cup. 10 furlongs. His main assignment in Melbourne, if he came ‘hrough his preparatory racing satisfactorily, would be the Caulfield Cup. a mile and a half. As a lead up to the Winter Cup. a mile. Gauntlet will very likely race in the Brabazon Handicap, a week earlier, at the Christchurch Hunt meeting. His programme after he races at Riccarton is expected to take in the Avondale Cup and the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s spring meeting
A seven-year-old gelding, by Le Filou from Lady Ella Gauntlet has won three races this season. He has had 13 firsts altogether and his stake earnings stand at £ 10.395.
