Traffic Lanes
Sir, —The answer to Mr Chas. C. Alien’s letter by the traffic superintendent of the Christchurch City Council is useless. We know that a driver should drive into the appropriate lane, but many don’t, and I would like an answer to Mr Allen’s question. Is there no penalty?—Yours, etc., I.H.S. May 30, 1963. [The Traffic Superintendent of the Christchurch City Council (Mr J. F. Thomas) said: “As previously explain*ed in the reply to the letter of Chas. E. Allen, there are definite obligations on a motorist to adhere to the lane which he has chosen, and an offence is committed if a driver changes from one lane to another.”]
